PROBLEM
Signex relied on a fragmented, document-heavy workflow that slowed operations, introduced errors, and made scaling increasingly difficult as the business expanded nationally and prepared for international growth.
On-site teams completed Daily Site Risk Assessments (DSRAs) using long, confusing forms that were not optimised for tablets and required repeated data entry. Off-site staff managed safety documentation across multiple formats and systems, making even routine tasks inefficient and frustrating.
SOLUTION
A centralised digital system was designed, comprising a native mobile app for on-site users and a web application for off-site teams. Given the project’s scope, the solution focused on improving a high-priority workflow: the Daily Site Risk Assessment. The DSRA experience was redesigned as a tablet-friendly, step-based form with pre-populated fields, interactive risk scales, and optional voice-to-text input to reduce friction and errors.
Off-site teams were provided with a single interface to search, review, and manage DSRA records. In the absence of formal usability testing, the solution was iteratively refined through user interviews and regular stakeholder feedback.
RESULT
The proposed solution was well received by both stakeholders and users during ongoing reviews and feedback sessions. Early responses indicated improved clarity, usability, and efficiency in completing DSRAs, particularly for on-site teams working in time-critical environments. The centralised approach to managing safety documentation was viewed as a strong foundation for supporting job-site safety and future business growth as the solution moves toward release.
